Surrounded by a valley full of palm trees and adobe villages, this is where you will find the mountains most prized by rock-climbing enthusiasts. These Todra and Dades faults are the best-known and most impressive in Morocco.<br\/>We will also pass through numerous valleys and ancient Berber villages as we head toward one of the tracks most frequently used by the former Paris-Dakar rally. We will pass through several border towns between Morocco and Algeria, and in the afternoon, we will arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes. Afterward, we will visit the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to a significant colony of Barbary macaques (monkeys).<br\/>We continue until we reach Ifrane, often called the \"little Swiss Morocco\" due to its striking resemblance to that country. One of the animals that historically inhabited this area was the Atlas lion, which has become the symbol of the city and is honored with a stone statue in its center.<br\/>We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. We will visit the labyrinth of streets in the preserved medieval city (known as Fes el-Bali), which is considered the largest urban area in the world where cars cannot circulate. It transports us to a completely different world. There are two other parts to the great city of Fes alongside the medina: the 13th-century city (Fes el-Jdid) and the Ville Nouvelle (where the business center is located, featuring modern avenues, hotels, and restaurants).<br\/>The most prominent highlights in Fes are, without a doubt, the medina, the souks (markets), and the area where the leather tanneries are located, including the Chouwara Tannery. Dating back to the Middle Ages, these famous leather workshops in Fes are considered the most important in North Africa. We will visit the Royal Palace, the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter), and the oldest university in the world, the University of Al-Qarawiyyin. Not for nothing was Fes considered \"the city of Faith and Knowledge,\" becoming the capital of culture and one of the country's most important religious centers. It welcomed Muslim refugees fleeing Granada in 1492 and after the expulsion from Spain in 1648, which is why it shares many similarities with Andalusian villages: white and blue houses, a steep medina set against the ridge of the mountain, and Andalusian patios.<br\/><br\/>Considered a \"Holy City,\" you will take a stroll through the center of town, enjoying its Medina. The old part is fascinating in its own right, with its narrow, cobbled streets filled with small artisan shops, blue-and-white painted houses, and welcoming locals. Strolling through its streets is a wonderful way to spend the day, as you will find a thousand surprising corners.
